Advantages of the drug:

  • destroys a wide range of annual and some perennial dicotyledonous plants
  • used at low application rates, which ensures low cost of processing 1 ha
  • effective almost regardless of weather conditions and soil properties
  • has a long period of protective action - throughout the entire growing season
  • characterized by prolonged soil action, blocks the germination of plants from seeds

Purpose:
systemic herbicide against annual dicotyledonous plants and some perennial dicotyledonous plants, including thistle, on non-agricultural lands.

Active substance:
metsulfuron-methyl, 600 g/kg.

Preparative form:
water-dispersible granules.

Characteristics of the active substance:
Metsulfuron-methyl is a sulfonylurea derivative and has a systemic effect.

Range of action:
sensitive species: ragwort, common thistle, Veronica ivy, common vetch, knotweed (species), field mustard, Lezel's ragwort, Sophia's ragwort, Sophia's descurainia, yellowwort, common chickweed, field cabbage, stinging nettle, common groundsel, field ranunculus, dandelion, sow thistle, shepherd's purse, pickleweed (species), weed sunflower, field navel, wild radish, odorless chamomile, roofing scurf, curly sorrel, upturned acorn, field violet, purple jasmine, field marigold, Canadian small petal, etc.
Moderately sensitive species: blue cornflower, field bindweed, Tatarian buckwheat, Tatarian lettuce, field sow thistle, great plantain, smokeweed, quinoa (species), pigweed (species), black nightshade, tenacious bedstraw, wormwood (species), chickweed (species) , horsetail, etc.

Mechanism of action:
the drug penetrates plants through leaves and roots, is absorbed by them and moves along the xylem and phloem.
It inhibits the enzyme acetolactate synthase, which disrupts the synthesis of the essential amino acids leucine, isoleucine and valine.
This leads to the cessation of cell division and subsequent death of sensitive plants.

Impact speed:
Magnum® penetrates plants within 4 hours after treatment. Within a few hours after absorption of the drug, plant growth slows down.
Under favorable conditions for weed development, the first visible symptoms appear after 2-3 days, and at low temperatures and drought - later. Visually distinct signs of plant oppression can be detected in warm, humid conditions after 7-10 days, and in cold, dry weather after 15-20 days.

Symptoms of exposure:
growth arrest of shoots and roots, anthocyanin coloring, discoloration of veins, death of the apical bud, deformity of leaves, chlorosis, necrosis.
Plants that are overgrown or less sensitive to the herbicide do not die, but are suppressed and stop further development.
