GENERAL DESCRIPTION

BASTA® is a soft contact desiccant designed for uniform drying of plants before harvesting. The drug helps to accelerate and even out maturation, improves the quality of seeds and marketable products, and facilitates harvesting operations.

Desiccation using the drug can reduce the moisture content of cultivated and weedy plants, reduce crop losses and create more favorable conditions for harvesting. The drug has a reliable effect, ease of use and a high level of safety for humans and the environment in compliance with the regulations of use.

BASTA® blocks the enzyme glutamine synthetase, which increases the ammonia content in plant cells. This leads to cell death, photosynthesis stops, and the treated plants gradually dry out.

The active ingredient of the drug, ammonium glufosinate, is a modification of the natural metabolic product of the soil fungus Streptomyces spp. In chemical structure, it is close to the natural amino acid glutamine. The drug is absorbed by the green parts of plants, but is not absorbed by the roots from the soil, due to which it acts locally on the treated vegetative mass.
